Inc. Magazine Unveils 29th Annual List of
America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies—the Inc. 500

The Pursuant Group Ranks No. 390 on the 2010 Inc. 500
with a Three-Year Sales Growth of 754.1%

DALLAS, TX August 31, 2010 – The Pursuant Group, a full-service fundraising and communications consulting firm, today announced its recognition by Inc. magazine as the 390th fastest-growing private company in the country. The prestigious Inc. 500 list ranks the most entrepreneurial and fastest-growing privately-owned companies in America by evaluating sales growth over a three-year period. The Pursuant Group earned its spot by growing more than 754 percent in revenue between 2006 and 2009.
“We are honored to be recognized on the Inc. 500 for growth that has stemmed from work we’re passionate about,” says Matt Frazier, CEO and founder of The Pursuant Group. “The company’s success is attributed to creative, brilliant employees who are tirelessly dedicated to our clients’ success first.”
The Pursuant Group’s recent sales growth stems in part from expanding and diversifying its revenue streams. The fundraising firm is known for innovative online technology and rich media that delivers high-impact fundraising campaigns. In recent years, The Pursuant Group acquired a series of other established fundraising services firms whose additions allow the company as a whole to offer a full range of services including feasibility studies, capital campaign counsel, campaign analytics, outsourced development officers, website and e-mail marketing, video production and more. The result is a comprehensive suite of products and services that make The Pursuant Group a one-stop shop for any nonprofit fundraising program.
“Fast growth at any time is a big achievement; fast growth during the past few years is just short of miraculous,” says Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “The Inc. 500 consists of these just-short-of miraculous companies, the ones that through ingenuity and ambition have increased revenue, hired employees and grown fast in difficult economic times.”
The 2010 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine (available on newsstands August 24 to November 16 and on Inc.com), is a group of companies that are smaller but much faster-growing than last year’s crop. Aggregate revenue is $11.3 billion—down from last year’s $18.4 billion—but median three-year growth is 1,231 percent, substantially up from last year’s 880.5 percent. The companies on this year’s list employ more than 45,000 people. Complete results of the Inc. 500, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region and other criteria, can be found at Inc.com/500.

Methodology
The 2010 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of Dec. 31, 2009. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. The companies of the Inc. 500 represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/500. The Pursuant Group was also ranked 1,602 of the top 5,000 fastest growing private companies on the Inc. 5000 in 2009.

About The Pursuant Group
These companies include Pursuant Agency, Ketchum Fundraising Services, RSI Church Stewardship and Pursuant Sports. Since January of 2008, the Purdue Alumni Association has published their bi-monthly online magazine, the Purdue Alumnus. Part of Purdue Alumni Association’s mission is “to contribute to the quality and progress of Purdue University.” One way they’re doing this is through embracing the ever-evolving nature of the online channel and being an innovator and a leader in online alumni communication.

So often our clients spur us on in developing more effective products and relevant services. Working with the Purdue Alumni Association forced us to think outside of the box and discover new and creative ways to keep alumni engaged and informed. We attribute so much of our success in online communication to forward-thinking clients, like Purdue, who push the envelope and force innovation. A little saying that we toss around quite often here at Pursuant is, “people support what they help to create.” This speaks to the value of cultivation in the development process. Not only is it important to make a case for support, you have to get your alumni involved in your philanthropic efforts. When your alumni are engaged and participating, they’re most likely to give and to stay involved to see the impact of their giving.
We’re encouraged and motivated by Purdue’s commitment to knowledge and service. To see more from the Purdue Alumni Association, click here.
